IAPBWB Programs, Projects and Joint Activities

The International Association of Professional and Business Women in Bulgaria (IAPBWB) works actively to implement several Programs and projects considered as essential for reaching its goals:

    1. IAPBWB Programme "E-powerment of Women in Bulgaria" announced at the Global Summit of Women in Barcelona (Spain) - 2002 tends to launch a project portfolio helping bridge the gender digital divide in the country. The "ICT Training for Women in Bulgaria" Project forms part of the Programme and addresses visible societal, group and personal needs. It is obvious that unsatisfactory low level of workforce skills has to be tackled by new approaches and means.

    2. In 2002 and 2003 the Association successfully carried out its unique "Professional and Business Women against Corruption - Practical Aspects" Project. Its outcome, results and impact exceeded everyone's expectations and formed the basis for further action into a follow-up initiative running presently as "Implementation of Modern Technology in Fighting Corruption" Project -2004 supported by a foreign partner. Its final results are expected untill the end of the year and will be presented in due form.

    3. "The Glass Ceiling in Bulgaria" Project. The IAPBWB considers as questionable some present views that vertical gender discrimination does not exist in Bulgaria or is not representing a social problem. Absence of clear nondiscriminatory equality commitment in almost all development programmes, which is mandatory European policy requirement casts some doubt on the readiness to join the large European family as a full fledged member on time.

    4. The Association was involved and presently explores possible future cooperation and joint activities with non-governmental, government , business, and educational local and international entities on project development compliant with its goals.
