June 2003 Monthly meeting of the IAPBWB with
UNDP office in Bulgaria (05.06.2003)

Our June 2003 Monthly meeting was designed to link better the International Association of Professional and Business Women in Bulgaria (IAPBWB) with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) office in our country.

UNDP Sofia office representative – Program Director Krassimir Benevski made an interesting presentation on “The United Nations Global Compact Initiative – its goals and activities in Bulgaria” to IAPBWB members and invited guests of the Association.

Marking the increased interest of professional and business women in our country to the United Nations’ Millenium Development Goals and more specifically to Goal N 3 “Promoting gender equality and empowerment of women” the International Association of Professional and Business Women in Bulgaria (IAPBWB) declared its firm dedication and intention to work actively for finding more effective mechanisms of cooperation and inclusion of wide range of international actors for reaching concrete measurable positive results in women’s empowerment in Bulgaria.

In a networking session after the lecture members and guests discussed an  initiative launched recently, known as  E-powerment of women in Bulgaria”. There was commonly shared view that UNDP may be helpful and more supportive in implementing realistically targeted and well designed projects in of this type.
